Offshore Disclosure - 2007 Amnesty
Cobham Murphy's team has dealt with many cases generated from HMR&C investigation projects. One of those was the Amnesty offered in 2007 which
was very similar to the second amnesty which was announced in July 2009
During the first Amnesty we dealt with a large number of cases for clients not only in UK but also from Europe and further afield.
The terms of the Amnesty seemed simple but in fact were complicated and we were able to secure significant savings for most of the people who consulted Cobham Murphy.
One couple were faced with a tax bill for several hundred thousand pounds but eventually had to pay less than £40,000.
We have recently also concluded a project investigation involving more than twenty clients who had used flawed offshore tax planning. We secured
favourable settlements for all of them which included not having to pay any penalties.
